Normally a long term power purchase agreement is reserved for large customers.  Solar gardens are looking to change that.  They are community solar projects designed to let local residents buy in to the system with little to no upfront cost.  While someone else will pay up front for the system, the power produced will be purchased at a fixed rate for up to 25 years.  So if you are looking to install solar, but are nervous about the initial investment, solar gardens may be an option in your area.

Energy production has generally been in the hands of a few that can afford to build large centralized facilities.  However, Mosaic is looking to change just that.  They offer large solar installations up for financing to the general public.  This means now anyone can own a piece of the power grid in the US without having to invest their life savings.  As the article says, investments ranged anywhere from $25 all the way up to $30,000.  Click on through the link if you want to learn more about the program.

With changes in solar, and technology in general, happening every day, having a place that sifts through and delivers interesting or important articles is a useful tool.  That is what I hope this blog will become over the coming years.  Please feel free to read through and comment on any future post, or contact us directly if you have any further questions about solar.  Thanks for stopping by!
